Webinar: FAMLI leave regulations (paid medical leave in MD)
Please join us in person or virtually for this important webinar for all employers in Maryland, with Jessica Porter from Capitol Benefits.
As you may know, Maryland has passed legislation requiring all employers to participate in paid family leave – called FAMLI. To help businesses navigate this change, GGCC member Capitol Benefits has offered to host a webinar that will provide important information and resources to employers and employees.
Here’s the crux of the new regulations for employers:
The goal of the webinar is to explain:
Key information for employees:
All eligible employees will have access to paid leave for important life events starting July 2026. Whether you're welcoming a new child, caring for a loved one, or recovering from an illness, you can now take time off while still receiving a portion of your income.
Key Highlights of Maryland Paid Family Leave:
?? Who’s Eligible? Employees working in Maryland who have earned wages in the state may be eligible for paid leave. This includes full-time, part-time, and temporary workers!
?? What Does it Cover? The leave covers several major life events, including:
?? How Much Time? Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks of paid leave for most situations. Some conditions may allow for up to 24 weeks, depending on the situation.
?? How Much Will I Get Paid? The amount you receive during your leave depends on your average weekly wages. Typically, the program pays a percentage of your regular income, so you can still take care of the things that matter most without financial stress. The draft FAMLI regulations currently indicate a cap of 90% of income up to $1000 weekly.
