SEMINAR: All the Dirt on Soil

SEMINAR: All the Dirt on Soil

Being home has given us a lot of time for home projects - remodeling, painting, reorganizing, & gardening.

Healthy soil is the basis of healthy plants and a healthy garden. When garden soil is in good shape, there is less need for fertilizers or pesticides. Join us for "All the Dirt on Soil" with J.B. Kline Landscaping. In this class, our Master Gardener will be talking about how to build healthy soil and how to create nutrient-rich compost for your garden.

Additionally, they will be educating everyone on the new pesticide laws in Montgomery County that went into effect over the last year. The new laws effect both residential homes and commercial properties. The laws were passed during the winter when most people weren’t thinking about their lawns or landscape. J.B. Kline has noticed a big gap in the public knowledge of what is entailed with the new laws. They will inform everyone on what the new laws are specifically, what to expect as a result, best practices, and alternative products they can use instead.

The event will take place via Zoom with advance registration online.

SEMINAR: UNITED IN THE SEARCH OF A COVID-19 VACCINE

SEMINAR: UNITED IN THE SEARCH OF A COVID-19 VACCINE

In these unprecedented times, the biohealth industry is coming together to achieve one shared goal: to beat COVID-19. And it is happening in our back yard.

As Maryland & Montgomery County gradually lift the confinement measures, it is clear that vaccine represents our best hope of moving out from under the shadow of the coronavirus epidemic.

The Gaithersburg-Germantown, Clarksburg, & Poolesville Chambers of Commerce will host representatives from AstraZeneca to discuss how the pharmaceutical industry is working around the clock, at extraordinary speed to develop a safe and effective vaccine against COVID-19. Doug Ryder, president, Holy Cross Germantown Hospital will moderate the discussion.

During the presentation, panelists from AstraZeneca will provide an overview of:

  • What is a vaccine & how does it work?
  • Status of a COVID-19 vaccine
  • How would the vaccine be distributed?
  • What is the current timeline for development, testing, and distribution?

Join us for this relevant & timely topic.
