Nobel Laureate, Dr. David Wineland, will speak at Montgomery College on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 9:30 – 11:00 am.

During his presentation entitled, “Quantum Computers and Raising Schrodinger’s Cat,” Dr. Wineland will explain “superposition states,” “qubits” and experiments whose goal is to realize a quantum computer based on laser manipulations of atomic ions.

While Dr. Wineland was the co-recipient of the 2012 Nobel prize in Physics for his “ground-breaking experimental methods that enable measuring and manipulation of individual quantum systems” this talk is intended for a general audience. The event is free, open to the public and will take place in Globe Hall in the High Technology and Science Center on the Germantown Campus.
